What is Icecat?
Icecat is the world's largest open catalog of product information, maintained by manufacturers and enriched by editors. It covers millions of IT products across thousands of manufacturers — from laptops and servers to networking equipment and peripherals.
MSPDock integrates with Icecat to give you access to rich product data when building quotes. Instead of manually typing product names and specifications, you search the catalog, select a product, and MSPDock pulls in the details automatically.
Why MSPDock uses Icecat
- checkAccurate product names — No more guessing at the exact model name or SKU. Icecat provides manufacturer-verified product titles.

- checkDetailed specifications — Processor, RAM, storage, ports, dimensions, warranty — all the technical specs your clients might want to see.
- checkMarketing descriptions — Manufacturer-written product descriptions that you can include in quotes and proposals.
Product search in the quote builder
When adding a line item to a quote, the product search bar queries the Icecat catalog in real time:
- 1Open a quote and click Add Line Item
- 2Start typing a product name, SKU, or manufacturer in the search field
- 3Results appear as you type, showing the product image, name, manufacturer, and SKU
- 4Click on a product to select it — MSPDock fills in the product name, description, and image
- 5If you have distributors connected, MSPDock also fetches live pricing for that product

Product data available
For each product in the Icecat catalog, the following data may be available (coverage varies by manufacturer and product):

| Specifications | Technical specs: processor, memory, storage, ports, dimensions, weight, warranty |
| Category | Product category (e.g., Notebook, Desktop, Switch, Access Point) |
Setup
The Icecat integration is built in and available on all plans. There is no setup required — product search works out of the box as soon as you create your MSPDock account.
MSPDock maintains its own Icecat catalog access, so you do not need your own Icecat account or API key.
Tip
If you cannot find a specific product in the catalog, you can always add a custom line item to your quote with a manual product name, description, and price.
